So, the photo pretty much sums up most of what I think about these days. I realized a while ago, one never stops being a parent. While I have a young adult on my hands, she will always and forever by my little girl. I'm thankful for the time we got to spend together before she was 7 years old. I do not regret one moment I greedily spend with her. I did not want to share her with anyone, although I am always proud when others see the smart, beautiful child God has given me. I realized at her birth, though, that she was only "borrowed" for a little while. God blessed this mother with the privilege of raising her.
We are on the threshold of what her adult live is shaping up to be. Currently, she is pursuing her passion and her love, teaching. I believe this is barely the second to the young man in the photo. I believe, she will finish her secondary education - in education. She once told me that she enjoys the challenge of "figuring out the problem" and fixing it! As the challenge applies to children who struggle to learn.
She has a quick and ready mind to accept what she has been counselled, then apply said counsel in a wise way.
Recently, circumstances have allowed her time in my Sunday school classroom. It works for me because I take a little break from teaching the lesson and enjoy the blessing of watching her in action with the wonderful gift He has given her.
Certainly, I am eager for my own time as a "grandparent." But I am content to wait until the time is right for my sweet Rachel. Career, College, Growing in Grace, Marriage - grandchild!
Yes, this old girl has much to be thankful for. Stay tuned as I share the next event from "Greenland."
