Is loss really loss for a believer?

It's been awhile. Happy New Year. It's nearing the end of January and already loss has begun our year.  Since such things are private, no details will be provided.  However, noticing the last post, the following thoughts seem very appropriate not knowing what was ahead just a few days ago.

"You still have to fight," is at the core of every believer.  Yet, there is something else, grace and peace.

"Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest," (Gen 22.2)

  • Did Abraham really understand he would have to take Isaac's life? I believe he did.
  • What sorrow must have invaded his heart at the very idea.  Remember he was "old and well stricken in years" when God blessed him with the promised child.
  • There is something else, "I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you."
  • Clearly he understood what he was to do at an altar of sacrifice.  Yet, he trusted God for something else.......Resurrection!
  • "I and the lad will...come again to you."
  • When a believer or one too young to know about laying hold of Adam's sin leaves this earth, we WILL see them again!
What a hope!  What peace!  In the words of one suffering such loss, "God knows best."  "God did a mercy."  Only such an loving heavenly Father, thru faith in the Lord Jesus Christ could grant such peace in the face of overwhelming bereavement.

Short but all I have today.  Trust Him when you there is no understanding.  Ps 57.7

In His care and keeping today.
